Daily Chronicle Post is an independent publisher supported by advertising. This page explains how we earn money, how we label advertising, and how we keep it separate from our editorial work.

How we earn money

Our revenue comes from advertising. That can include ads shown on our pages and sponsored pages that advertisers pay for. Some links on sponsored pages may be affiliate links, which means that we may earn a commission if you buy through them. Our editorial articles do not contain affiliate links or calls to buy a product.

How we label advertising

  • Ads from third parties. Ads placed by advertising partners appear in marked areas under the label "Advertisements" or "Sponsored Links." Recommendation widgets from advertising partners name the company that provides them.
  • Sponsored pages. A sponsored page is a paid advertisement, not an editorial article, even when it uses an article-style layout. It carries a "Paid Advertisement" band at the top of the page, above the headline, and a line that says it is a paid advertisement, not a news article, and names the advertiser. Sponsored pages are not part of our editorial sections.
  • Calls to action. A button or link on a sponsored page says where it leads, is marked as an advertisement, and has a disclosure next to it, for example: "We may earn a commission if you buy through this link."
  • Affiliate links. When a link is an affiliate link, we say so in plain words next to the link, not in fine print and not only on a separate page.

Advertising does not shape our editorial coverage

Advertisers and advertising partners do not review, approve, or influence what we publish. They cannot buy coverage, change our conclusions, or have a correction removed. Our editorial team chooses topics and sources on its own. Read more in our Editorial Policy.

Ads we do not control

Third-party ads are chosen by our advertising partners, not by our editorial team, and we do not control each ad that appears. Where our partners offer category controls, we use them to limit sensitive ads. An ad is not an endorsement of the product or service it shows, and statements in an advertisement are the advertiser's own.

If you see an ad that looks misleading, offensive, or broken, email [email protected] with the page address and a screenshot, and we will look into it.

Advertising and your data

Advertising and measurement tools, including cookies and pixels, can collect information about your visit. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain what they collect. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.

The rules we follow

Our labels are designed to follow the guidance of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on advertising disclosures, including the FTC's Endorsement Guides: What People Are Asking and its Native Advertising: A Guide for Businesses. That guidance says that an ad should be easy to recognize as an ad, and that any paid connection between a publisher and an advertiser should be disclosed clearly and close to the claim or link it relates to.
